A little history of Blasimon abbey

This old Benedictine abbey was founded in the 10th century: the 12th century church is still standing, restored in the 15th and 16th century. Don't miss its beautiful Romanesque front!

In the past, monks dug ditches fill with river Gamage's water, surrounding the abbey. These ditches transformed our abbey into a real stronghold! Unfortunately, the French Revolution damaged the abbey, that's why now it's ruined.
