Parish church Saint-Louis-en-l'Ile church

On the Saint-Louis island, in the heart of Paris, you can't miss the strange silhouette of that church!

In 1600, a roofer called Nicolas Lejeune raised a house on islands Notre-Dame. He also built a chapel. Lots of people moved in, later, and the small church became too small.

The brand new church was began in 1664 based on plans by Louis Le Vau, then replaced by architect Gabriel Leduc. Jacques Doucet completed it in 1726.
