The foundation of this old abbey dates back to the reign of Charlemagne. Burnt by Normans in the 9th century, rebuilt in the 11th century by abbot Odon II between 1023 and 1050, burnt by English troops in 1371 then by Protestants during wars of Religion... wow, so much peripetias!
The abbey was restored in 1640 by Benedictine monks of Saint-Maur. Meanwhile, a strange man took up residence there, between 1611 and 1634: Henri de Neuchèze, a kind of bandit, who damaged the place, transforming it into a den for his clique!...
Well, the former church, also known as the Romanesque Sixtin chapel, dates back to the 11th century. And there's a treasure! Sure, come here...
