Castle Azay-le-Ferron castle

- We liked the story of the domesticate wolf Cacao: he stands at his favourite place, at the top of the stairs, just in front of his master's bedroom, Mr. Luzarche. Cacao's mother was killed during a hunt and the lord adopted him as a cub.

He even integrated him with his hound dogs! Cacao became blind at the end of his life: the poor animal died drowned in the park, in a fountain... He was 12 years old.

- The Restoration style living room, with its amazing parquet made of 15 wood species! It comes from a town house in Versailles (Yvelines) and dates back to the beginning of the 19th century.

- The library and the rare Flanders tapestry, made of golden silk, based on a drawing by Van d'Orlais (16th century). It represents the Sabines kidnapping. At that time they needed one year to make just... 2 square metres!

- In the Louis-Philip bedroom, we liked the "courteousness door": Mr. Luzarches could meet Mrs. Luzarches in her bedroom at any time... Naughty, naughty guy!

- The grand salon with the beautiful ceiling: colours are very bright, isn't it? But they never restored it! This ceiling comes from a city house in Versailles, it dates back to the beginning of the 17th century...

For the record, owners, in the 20th century, decided to restore the ceiling, who nearly collapsed... The restoration workshop also repainted it, with a nice bright blue! Argh: the blue was too bright, so owners asked them to patine it!
