General hospital Nicolas Rolin Beaune hospices

Dukes of Burgundy's former capital, seat of their Parliament, Beaune was part of the mighty Burgundy belonging to Philip the Good, one of the most powerful state in Europe!

Hospices creation dates back to 1443, when Nicolas Rolin, Philip the Good's chancellor, undertook the construction of a place for needy persons and patients. Did you notice the outside façade? It seems so austere, compare to the inner decoration.

Inside, the impression of hugeness and beauty is complete. We find here a 70 metres room, with beds where patients received their treatments.
