Speciality

What’s this?

On the place Cujas, in Bourges (Cher), the Forestine mother company was named after Georges Forest, the confectioner who created this little candy in 1879.

The first world filled candy!

These shiny and coloured sweets are made with a yummy chocolate with sugared almond, flavoured with chocolate, coated in a thin sugar shell...

Crispy and crunchy, with a delicious nuts smell, yum, just taste it!

The little history

The Bourges shop is located in a beautiful Haussmanian building, raised in 1884 by Georges Forest.

Inside, surprise! Don’t miss the nice Gien porcelain ceiling.

On this ceiling, we can read the name of the company’s specialities:

  • the Châtaigne du Berry ("Berry’s chestnut") in 1890 (caramel filled with an almond and chestnut cream);
  • the Amandine in 1885 (nougatine and chocolate with sugared almond);
  • the Phénix in 1907;
  • the Pailles du Berry ("Berry’s straws") in 1869.

Did you know Georges Forest was Léon Mazet’s uncle, the one who created Mazet company, in Montargis, THE house of the praline?

Léon was 15 years-old when he began his training by his uncle, in Bourges... Confectionery, a family story!
