The La Chalotais case: a plot in Brittany?

Castle Plot Tragic destiny Caradeuc castle

This castle is nicknamed "little Versailles". The man who raised it really knew Versailles, as many Breton lords at that time.

His name was Anne-Nicolas de Caradeuc, Brittany's Parliament counsellor. His son, Louis-René de Caradeuc de La Chalotais owned the castle. Louis-René was king's general procurer.

Our Regency castle, with its long fronts flanked by a detached house on one side, faces a vast formal garden.

The park was re-laid out in 1890 by French landscape gardener Edouard André: we can see Diane's border, the Emperor's roundabout, Falloux’s alley...'
