Castle Andlau castle

Flanked by its two round keeps, this granite castle ruined in 1216 by Henri de Veringen, bishop of Strasbourg, then by Henri de Stahleck, dates back from 13th century.

A famous family known since the 10th century, lords of Andlau, owned the fief since the 12th century.

Occupied by Swedish troops during the Thirty Years War, in 1633, the castle was ruined by its owner in the beginning of the 19th century: he removed the roofs and the inner framework.
