Castle Châteauneuf-sur-Loire castle

Beyond entrance detached houses, I see an elegant rotunda and the huge landscaped park stretching as far as the eye can see. This estate used to be very important: it belonged to the first Capetians kings! The orangery and the two detached house at the entrance were built in the 18th century. The first castle was raised in the 11th century: the castrum novum, châteauneuf, "new castle"... The castle was sold in 1633: the new owner, State minister Phelypeaux rebuilt it. During the French revolution, biildings were destroyed. They landscaped the formal gardens in the beginning of the 19th century.
