Castle Crissay castle

Crissay castle was raised in the 15th century, on very old foundations. From the medieval fortress only remains the main building... It was raised on an artificial hill. Bouchard de l'Ile was Crissay first lord, mentioned in a text from Beaumont abbey in 1084. Then, we have the Turpin family who owned the castle until 1632. Turpin came from Vendôme area and probably conquered Crissay at the end of the 11th century.

During the Hundred Years War, Turpin were kings of France's comrades in arms, in Azincourt and Crécy battles. At that time, noblemen dropped like flies on battlefields.
