Fortification La Charité-sur-Loire ramparts

Fortified in 1164, the city of La Charité became a very important strategical place, coveted by Armagnacs and Burgundians during the Hundred Years War.

In 1423, Perrinet-Gressard besieged the city: Joan of Arc came in 1429... but Perrinet's troops were more numerous, Joan was forced to leave...

King Charles VII forced Perrinet to surrender in 1435, because Armagnacs and Burgundians signed a treaty of peace.
