Abbot church Notre-Dame church in Mouzon

A Benedictine abbey developed here in 971, founded by bishop of Reims Adalbéron. Rebuilt on the former church vestiges, the abbey church dates from 1190.

Completed in 1231, the northern tower only dates back to 15th century and southern tower to 16th century. Choir dates back to the 12th century, nave to the 13th century.

You will notice the organ and its 1725 carved case, made by Christophe Moucherel.

Sold during French Revolution, the church was transformed into a hospital. A huge restoration was undertaken in the 19th century.
