Abbot church Saint-Pierre church in Corbie

You wouldn’t think, but Corbie was very, very powerful! Inside its big walls, we found 5 churches and above all a huge Benedictine abbey: abbots were counts!

Founded in 662 by saint Bathilde, king Clovis II’s wife, more than 300 monks lived here! Kings of all Europe came here in order to pray the 133 relics, in the church...

So, what happened? The abbey was destroyed during the Revolution. Only remains the abbot church raised between the 16th and the 18th century.
