The nougat was created in Saint-Tropez by Martin Sénéquier, in 1887.
Whoa, on the red and blue wrapper, we can see ″Silver medal in Poitiers, 1889″ and ″Silver medal in Bordeaux, 1897″.

Suffren... in the nougat
Hey, by the way… who’s this chap, on the packaging? He’s the famous bailiff de Suffren!
Pierre-André de Suffren, a famous French sailor born in Saint-Tropez in 1729, knight then bailiff of Malta order.
Captain of the Royal Navy, the king sent him in India, where he defeated the English many times…
We can see his statue on the quay Suffren.
