Auditorium Renaissance theatre in Paris

Originally, the Renaissance company founded by Anténor Joly.

Victor Hugo, Casimir Delavigne and Alexandre Dumas in 1838 performed in the Ventadour theatre.

But they wanted their own theatre! In 1872, they opened it on boulevard Saint-Martin.

Architect Charles de Lalande raised it. We can see nice caryatids by sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse...

It was inaugurated in 1873: they performed dramas, especially, then operettas.

Famous Sarah Bernhardt managed it from 1893 to 1899. Nowadays, they perform comical plays.
