A few steps from Bordeaux, the Cayac priory is located on Compostela's road. It welcomed lots of pilgrims in the Middle-Ages. The ruins remind us there was here a hospital dependent of the bishopric of Bordeaux, from the 13th century, mentioned for the first time in 1229.
Written works said the pilgrims who had a break in Cayac "were nicely welcome here, on day and night. To those who only passed through, we gave bread and wine to them."
