Kings of France adored those forests rich in game near Orléans, since the Middle Ages. Above all, they adored hunting!

Well, Gien castle houses the current Hunting museum. Tapestries, weapons, trophies, hunting horns... a nice collection!

Oh, don't forget some gorgeous paintings, made by French artists François Desportes and Jean-Baptiste Oudry.

Who are those two men? Oh, kings Louis XIV and Louis XV asked them portraits of their favourite dogs: they immortalized slender greyhounds or violent deer hunt scenes, with dogs chops curled up, their eyes rolled upwards...
