Gladiator's statue Statue Animals

At the entrance of Longchamp racecourse (Paris) is a statue of the most famous horse in the world: Gladiator, an English thoroughbred! Anyway, he really deserves his bronze statue…

This effigy was made in 1866 by sculptor Isidore Bonheur (brother of the famous painter Rosa Bonheur, yes!): maybe you know this guy. He made the bulls’ statues at the entrance of the (former slaughterhouses of Vaugirard)…

On the white pedestal, we can see Gladiator’s father and mother’s names, and all his victories in England. An inscription also says that the statue was given by mister Georges Halphen, an art collector...

And also!
