The huge fortress of Cabaret is composed of 4 castles: castle of Cabaret, Tour Régine, Fleur d'Espine and Quertinheux, dating back to the 12th century.
Its lord, Pierre-Roger de Cabaret, was an ardent defender of Cathars. The proud building resisted against all assaults... until 1211, when Simon de Montfort besieged it after lord of Cabaret's surrender!
