Bertrand townhouse Town house

We are now in the heart of Châteauroux city: this nice hotel dates back to 1762: general Bertrand's grand-father (king engineer, Martin Bouchet) raised it.

General Bertrand, Napoleon's famous and loyal friend! He was born in Châteauroux in 1763; he had his name engraved on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and his grave in the Invalides. He followed Napoleon in Austerlitz, Waterloo... even in Elba Island.

Bertrand's father and brother lived in this classical style hotel, with his rotunda overlooking a nice little garden. It nowadays houses a museum, with archaeological collections, Napoleon's souvenirs and so much more...
