A strange church, made of red brick, hiding behind tall trees, on the vast avenue Daumesnil...
Raised with reinforced concrete between 1928 and 1935 by architect Tournon, the church was made on the model of the church of St-Sofia in Constantinople.
Inside, it’s very dark, impressive... almost creepy! We had huge frescos on walls, made by about 20 artists, including Maurice Denis.
Transparent stained-glass windows were made by Barillet and Hébert-Stevens. It was inaugurated in 1929, by cardinal Jean Verdier.
