Here’s the remain of the general hospital of Lys-Saint-Georges! The legend says it was founded with the castle, by a lord of Lys who went back from Crusades with the leprosy! He needed a place where he could take shelter and have some medical cares...
In fact, the leper-house dates back to the 13th century: it housed pilgrims and the poor. The hospital was a dependency of Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre’s chapter. During the war of Religion, the building where the sick persons were cured was destroyed. Today, it only remain the chapel and a small house (a barn).
