The oldest house in Troyes and its dauphin

Here we are in front of the oldest house in Troyes! It dates back to 1472. It's the only building which didn't burn in the terrible fire of 1524!

But where does this name, maison du Dauphin, "Dauphin's house", come from?

On one pillar, we can see a blazon with a fleur-de-lis and a dolphin: the dolphin, the Dauphin, king Francois I's son, and future Henri II!

We can imagine the owner of the house welcomed the king and was allowed to engrave his coat of arms...
