The old ruined castle belonging to counts of Nevers overlooks this nice little city.

Raised for those counts in the 12th century, surrounded by walls and protected by river Loire, the second marriage of Bonne of Artois (Philip II of Burgundy's widow) and duke of Burgundy Philip the Good took place in the fortress.

The duke's sister, Agnès, also married here count of Clermont.
