The fellah fountain: the mystery of the handsome Antinous

Egyptomania was a fashion brought back by Napoleon I from his campaigns in Egypt, in the beginning of the 19th century. Next to the underground station entrance, we have this amazing statue, also called “Egyptian fountain”. Created by engineer Bralle and sculptor Beauvallet, they put it up here in 1810 in order to brought river Ourcq water in the city.
