The sinking of Grenelle artesian well
The sinking of this well took place between 1833 and 1841, managed by François Arago and engineer Louis-Georges Mulot.
In Paris, we hadn’t wells at that time. In suburbs, yes we had, but in the city, not a single one!
Several districts lacked of fresh water, they had to do something. The fountain was raised in 1904, where the sinking took place!
