What’s this?
A speciality from Lorraine: a candy created in 1850 in Nancy by confectioner Lilich, from Germany.
A flat candy flavoured with bergamot oil, made with sugar and glucose. A very simple recipe, but so fresh and delicately flavoured!
The little history
Bergamot? Oh, citrus bergamia...
A kind of big fruit with a peel, which looks like a lemon or an orange. They cultivate it in hot countries.
The legend says this fruit was discovered by an Italian, who decided to graft a lemon-tree branch on a pear-bergamot tree!
