Montségur-sur-Lauzon old castle Castle

In Drôme département, this little village kept the vestiges of its medieval fortress with its surrounding wall, "Old Montségur", an old village people abandoned in the 19th century. Templars knights raised the former castle in the 11th century. But once the order was dissolved, it was the Beaumont family who moved here. You know what?

The castle belonged to the famous baron des Adrets, a terrible Protestant leader during war of Religion: an Italian engineer created a formidable hideout here... he was the only one who knew where this diabolic hiding place was! Yes, Montségur kept secrets, mysteries... By the way, a terrible story took place here!
